Food Waste transformers

Food waste transformers was a project elaborated together with the municipality of The Hague.

To showcase their work we focused on telling their story through the lens of the key objects they use to make this happen: The Bakfiets, The Table, The Coffee Cart and The Fridge.

Exhibition results

The Bakfiets

The bakfiets is what the Conscious Kitchen uses to pick up the left over food from the markets and delivers them around.

The Fridge

The food is then distributed and stored in fridges which have been placed all around the city for easy access.

The table

During the pandemic, tables in the markets were removed. This meant a big difference in how people interacted. Conscious Kitchen aimed to build the sense of community by bringing them back and enabling a space for gathering and appreciating food together.

The coffee card

The Haagse Markt Coffee Card has always been a symbol of the market, bringing people together but also allowing visitors to stop for a minute and observe their surrounding.

The goal of the exhibition was to promote the work done by the organisation Conscious Kitchen.

They are a non-profit organization focusing on reducing food waste in the municipality of The Hague. They do this by rescuing what would-be-wasted food from markets and distributing it across the city and making community vegan dinners.

The exposition was based on different types of solidarity and how objects can be symbols that represent acts of solidarity between people.
