Sustainable giveaway product to showcase a new biomaterial.
Zero waste
The objective is to create a product that will popularize seaweed-based biomaterial in the home environment.
The product showcases the material and use its characteristics as an advantage and not as a constrain.
It must be of added value to the user & unique selling point must be marketable.
The Materials
The whole product is made out of seaweed based material. The body of the turtle is seaweed-based-bioplastic, and both the shell of the turtle and the packaging are made out of seaweed-based material that imitates the characteristics of wood. The main focus with this was to ensure no waste material being produced.
How does it work?
First, Take the turtle outside of it box and disassemble the box.
Gradually, the turtle will start decomposing and a small plant will sprout.
Use the base of the box as a platform. Break down the remaining pieces of the box and keep them to throw them gradually inside the hole in the turtle’s shell.
As the turtle decomposes more and more, place it on a surface with abundant fertilised soil.
Place the platform on your desired spot and water the turtle once a week.
Eventually, the turtle will fully decompose and a beautiful plant will take its place.
